Confidentiality

School Counselors have responsibility to protect private information received through their confidential relationships with students.

School Counselors keep records of their counseling relationships separate from academic records and do not disclose unless privacy exceptions exist.

*If a student's shares information with me and I think the parents/guardians need to know I will tell the student that the parents/guardians will be notified. Depending on what is shared with me and the age of the student I may work with the child to encourage them to tell you themselves while I support the child.

Times Confidentiality will be broken:
- Harm to self or others
- Abuse
- Sexual Activity
-Pregnancy
